On 26 April 2025, AMCUC organised a major scientific conference at the Club Val d'Anfa hotel in Casablanca, entitled “Medical Cannabis: Current State and Challenges in the Development of Derived Medicines”. At this event, the association paid tribute to Professor Abderrahmane Marzougui, professor at Abdelmalek Essaâdi University and a leading figure in Moroccan cannabis research.
Prof. Rabii Redouane, president of AMCUC, praised the “remarkable research contributions of Prof. Marzougui that have illuminated the path towards developing the medical uses of cannabis”. A prolific researcher whose work is published in specialist journals such as Ethnobotany Research and Applications, Prof. Marzougui has led numerous collaborative research projects with foreign universities on the therapeutic extracts of Moroccan cannabis.
A founding partner of AMCUC since its inception, Prof. Marzougui has accompanied the association at every stage of its development and has moderated many of its conferences and seminars. He is also among the experts regularly mobilised under the KIF TAKWINE training programme for Moroccan physicians and pharmacists.
